Exposed: 7 of the most common myths about skincare

When it comes to skincare, there are countless opinions, beliefs, and recommendations out there. While some of them are based on scientific research, many are simply myths that can do more harm than good. In this post, we’ll debunk 7 of the most common skincare myths.

Myth #1: You only need sunscreen when it’s sunny outside

This is one of the biggest skincare myths out there. The truth is that even on cloudy days or during the winter months, the sun’s harmful UV rays can still penetrate your skin and cause damage. So, it’s important to wear sunscreen every day, regardless of the weather.

Myth #2: Exfoliating every day is good for the skin.

Over-exfoliating can damage the skin's natural barrier and lead to irritation, sensitivity, and even breakouts. It's generally recommended to exfoliate no more than 2-3 times per week, and to use gentle exfoliants that won't damage the skin.

I highly recommend my favorite peeling pads by Neogen.

Myth #3: You can shrink your pores

Pore size is largely determined by genetics, so it’s not possible to actually shrink them. However, you can make them appear smaller by keeping them clean and unclogged. Use a gentle exfoliant and a daily cleanser to help keep your pores clear. You can also try out double cleansing, I swear, your face have never felt cleaner!

Myth #4: Oily skin doesn’t need moisturizer

It’s a common misconception that if you have oily skin, you don’t need to moisturize. However, oily skin still needs hydration and can actually produce more oil if it’s dehydrated. Choose a lightweight, oil-free moisturizer to help keep your skin hydrated without adding excess oil. Like the Rovectin Clean Lotus Water Cream:

Myth #5: You can get rid of wrinkles with creams

While there are certainly anti-aging creams that can help reduce the appearance of wrinkles, they can’t actually get rid of them completely. The best way to prevent wrinkles is to protect your skin from sun damage, maintain a healthy diet and lifestyle, and avoid smoking.

Myth #6: Natural ingredients are always better

Many of the ingredients denounced by beauty enthusiasts seem to have been chosen randomly in an attempt by companies to "greenwash" their products to make them more appealing to conscious buyers. While some natural ingredients can be beneficial for your skin, not all of them are. Just because something is natural doesn’t mean it’s safe or effective for your skin. We've curated only the best of the best when it comes to the real clean brands and products.

Myth #7: Expensive products are always better

Price doesn’t necessarily indicate quality when it comes to skincare products. In fact, some of the most effective products can be found at our webshop for great value for money. Look for products with key ingredients that are proven to be effective, regardless of the price tag. There are plenty of affordable skincare products that are just as effective as their high-end counterparts.

In conclusion: there are many skincare myths out there that can be misleading or even harmful to your skin. By understanding the truth behind these common myths, you can make more informed decisions about your skincare routine and keep your skin looking healthy and radiant.
